Valdosta Technical College is a two year institution without dormitories, dining halls and other related residential facilities. However, the college is committed to the comfort and well being of the students on campus and maintains areas for this purpose.
The Student Center and “Upper Crust” Student Lounge :
The student center is located between buildings 200 and 700. The lounge provides a comfortable place for students to eat, meet and mingle, or to just relax between classes. The lounge offers seating inside, outside on the open patio, or outside under the covered patio. The Upper Crust is a full kitchen providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
In addition, the student center houses the office of the student activities coordinator and the student government association.
The campus security offices are also located inside the student center. Student identification cards, parking decals and parking violations are handled through the campus security offices.
The Bookstore:
The VTC Bookstore is temporarily housed in building 500 while renovations are being completed in their normal location in building 300. Students may pay tuition and fees and purchase all their required books, materials, diskettes, kits, and instrumentation in the bookstore. In addition, the store has a wide assortment of other retail items such as shirts, book bags, caps, cups and school supplies. Most major credit cards are accepted.
The Library:
The Library is a 7,200 square foot facility with spacious reading and study areas. The new facility located in Building 700, Room 7147A contains three study rooms, eight study carrels, a classroom, and a conference room. Included in the collection are books, magazines, newspapers, audiovisual materials, a computer lab, and various other resources. In addition, the Library maintains an agreement with Valdosta State University allowing currently enrolled students to utilize their facility (Odum Library), and to have borrowing privileges. Materials reserved for certain classes are kept at the circulation desk. Students needing additional resources not owned by the Library should ask the staff about interlibrary loan services
Bulletin Boards and Posters:
The Student Affairs Division maintains financial aid information, registration information, club information and other current items of interest on several bulletin boards located around campus. Career Services maintains listings of jobs at http://www.valdostatech.edu/jobs/joblisting.html. Posters announcing special events and services are placed strategically throughout the college in an effort to keep the student body informed. All postings must be approved through the Executive Director of Student Affairs.
Student Activities:
Valdosta Technical College recognizes many regionally, state and/or nationally affiliated Student Organizations for diploma and degree level students. These Student Organizations act as ambassadors on the VTC campus and host student activities year round. Students are encouraged to become active in an organization and to participate in activities promoted by the organization.
