Valdosta Technical College recently added a new lab for the Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) Program taught by Karen Burgess. To help promote and give recognition to this program and its local affiliates, VTC is hosting a series of events during National Medical Laboratory Professional Week, April 20th-26th.
During the week, Valdosta Technical College students will help in coordinating events at 3 local healthcare agencies that currently host CLT students for the clinical rotations; Smith Northview Hospital, Doctor’s Laboratory, and South Georgia Medical Center. They will provide the laboratory employees with breakfast, chances to win prizes provided by local businesses as well as recognize the agencies for their continued support of the program.
In addition to the events being held at these agencies, Valdosta Technical College will host an Open House in the new Clinical Lab in building 200 on Tuesday at 9am. This open house will give the community a chance to get a glimpse into what it takes to run this program by providing tours of the lab. Students will be on hand to provide Free Blood Typing at the Open House.
