Dr. F.D Toth, Interim President of Valdosta Technical College presented Larry Jeter, CEO and the employees of Smith Northview Hospital with plaques recognizing them for their efforts to improve customer service through training. The presentation was held in conjunction with Smith Northview’s Art Reception on March 31, 2008.
The relationship between Smith Northview Hospital and Valdosta Tech has always been strong. April of 2006 started a new era in that relationship. Mr. Jeter saw a need for a stronger focus on continued education and customer service training as the hospital rapidly grew in their new facilities on North Valdosta Road.
Valdosta Technical College’s Economic Development Department customized a training program that would enhance customer service skills, and employee relations through a new customer service orientation program, monthly customer service classes, employee committees, surveys and newsletters. For the past 2 years, Valdosta Tech has facilitated over 686 hours of customer service training to all employees of Smith Northview as well as worked on employee recognition programs to foster a culture of excellence within the organization.
Mr. Jeter continues to believe in the importance of training and has extended the program with Valdosta Technical College. In addition to training classes, Smith Northview also allows VTC medical program students to complete clinical hours on site, serves on advisory boards for the college as well as the Board of Trustees. This is an organization that is truly focused on what it can do to better serve the community. They understand the importance of building lasting relationships and providing optimal quality healthcare while using the resources of the area they serve.
