Valdosta Technical College was well represented by eight students at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) national conference in Atlanta on June 18-25. The conference included intensive leadership training, seminars and competitive events. Students’ business and computer skills were showcased during writing, production and performance tests.
PBL member, Steven Gottlieb received two first place national awards in computer concepts and networking concepts competitions. Other Valdosta Tech students and the events in which they competed included Carissa Worley and Linda Gelatt - Desktop Publishing; Tevyah Young, Julie Scott and Jeremy Downing - Hospitality Management; Heather Suffield - Computer Concepts; and Daniel Batten - Microeconomics.
“All of our students are to be congratulated on their efforts and attitude during this event,” said Lynn Bowen, Phi Beta Lambda Advisor and CIS program coordinator. “These events are an important part of their education. The activities here will greatly enhance their skills, experience and professionalism.”
Phi Beta Lambda is a non-profit education association with over 250,000 members nationwide who are preparing for careers in a business related field. PBL is the post-secondary division of Future Business Leaders of America.
