Students trained in programs at Valdosta Tech are qualified for
work in their chosen field. If an employer is searching for a person
with computer skills, a qualified health occupations specialist,
or a prospective employee with technical or industrial training,
he or she will probably contact the Job Placement/Career Services
Office to locate applicants for the job. Over the years, Valdosta
Tech students have earned an excellent reputation in the local area
work force.
At Valdosta Tech, students are trained for useful employment. The
curriculum, consisting of occupational education, hands-on applications,
and specific skill training, is based on recommendations and approval
of local business and industry employers. Course content is updated
periodically to keep pace with the changing work environment. Training
is under the supervision of competent and highly trained professional
instructors.
Work ethic habits such as attendance, punctuality, and pride in
accomplishment are stressed throughout the training program. The
work ethics component is used to teach, emphasize, and evaluate
daily performance within established norms of established norms
of work behavior. A work ethics grade is recorded along with the
academic grade for each course in the program. Grades are reported
on the student’s transcript. Employers
are encouraged to request that a job applicant submit a copy of
the transcript with an application for employment.
Professional staff members in the Job Placement/Career Services
Office can assist you as an employer in your search for qualified
applicants. Resumes and applications from students and former students
are entered in a database and updated periodically. Job order information
is distributed to instructors, posted on bulletin boards, and output
to the Job Board on the Valdosta Tech website. Qualified applicants
will be referred according to the instructions specified on the
job order. Valdosta Tech can schedule recruiting sessions or interviews

The Department of
Technical and Adult Education guarantees employers that graduates
of state technical institutes shall possess the skills and knowledge
prescribed by the state curriculum standards. If, within two years
of graduation, a graduate or the employer is convinced that the
employee is not competent in an area of training required by the
state curriculum standards, the graduate will be retrained by any
technical institute with no charge to the student or the employer.
