New Connections to Work

The New Connections to Work program is a comprehensive training and employment program that provides services and assistance to eligible participants who are seeking post secondary training or employment.

Participants are recruited through cooperation with local Department of Family and Children Services, the Georgia Department of Labor, business and industry, high schools, and other agencies. Eligible participants include:

  • Single parents with custody or joint custody of dependent children.
  • Homemakers in transition who are separated, divorced, or widowed.
  • TANF clients striving for self-sufficiency and in need of education, training, or employment.
  • Students who wish to seek training for non-traditional occupations.

Services are provided to participants in a variety of ways including assessment and testing, counseling, job readiness and job retention seminars, life management workshops, and skills training.

Testing/Orientation
Open to any women in transition who would like to know more about returning to school at VTC. Space is limited. Call (229) 245-3846 to register.

Lunch & Learn
Open to any currently enrolled VTC student.

Making the Connection Workshop
This two week workshop assists referred individuals with the decision about returning to school. Topics include goal setting, career choices, tour of VTC programs and time management.

Single Parent Support Group
Open to all currently enrolled VTC students who are single parents or displaced homemakers.

Road Map to Success Summer Youth Program

Open to youth who have completed the 9th grade, passing into the 10th.
