Campus Security

Campus security is provided on the main campuses (Ben Hill-Irwin, Coffee, Valdosta and Cook) by the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Police Department.  A police officer is on-duty at all times when students are present. These officers are sworn law enforcement officers of the WGTC Police Department and augmented when necessary by local law enforcement.

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College reports all violations of federal and state laws to the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Police Department for appropriate action. Officers are dispatched to investigate all reports. Law enforcement reports that are applicable to incidents on any of the campuses are on file in the main office on the Valdosta campus.

Important information regarding student parking

Parking Tickets
Starting fall quarter 2010, all students will be required to have a parking decal if they are parking on one of the four main campus locations. The parking decals can be purchased through campus security and must be displayed on the vehicle at all times while on campus. Campus security will be responsible for enforcing the use of the decals. Students not following procedure will be issued parking tickets. 

  • Parking fines may be paid for in person at any WGTC bookstore location or mailed to WGTC Bookstore, 4089 Val Tech Road, Valdosta GA 31602-0929
  • Failure to pay or respond to your citation will result in a hold on your record

Parking Appeals
Recipients may appeal a parking citation within 7 days from the date of issue. Appeal forms can be obtained from the Office of Student Services. Appeals will be considered by the Executive Director for Student Services. A student’s failure to pay a parking fine will result in grade reports being withheld and/or registration being denied for the next quarter.

Visitors
Visitor parking is available on all campuses. If a visitor receives a parking citation while visiting any campus, do not pay.  Please sign below the back of the ticket underneath Visitor and return the ticket to WGTC Bookstore, 4089 Val Tech Road, Valdosta GA 31602-0929.
Visitor parking permits are available upon request from each campus.

Severe/Inclement Weather Policy and Procedures

Decisions regarding conditions affecting Wiregrass Georgia Technical College during severe/inclement weather will be made by the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), after consultation with the President. The VPAA (or designee) will communicate the decision concerning closing of college facilities, opening late or closing early, to employees and students through several methods by 6 a.m. or as early in the day as possible.
